The origins of Electrify My Home go back over 40 years to when our founder, Larry Waters, started in the HVAC industry. Over this time, Larry worked in multiple California climate zones to install and service furnaces, air conditioners, and water heaters, as well as improve the performance of homes through insulation and air sealing upgrades.
But as the state began pursuing lofty carbon reduction goals, it was clear: there is a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time. As the electrification movement was born, so was Electrify My Home — still the only company in the country to specialize in comprehensive home electrification! After tackling hundreds of electrification projects since 2015, the groundwork was laid for Electrify My Home.
How It Started, How It’s Going
We started Electrify My Home as a three-person unit with the goal of hiring ten more motivated Californians to help us bring the best in heat pump knowledge and electrification planning to the homeowners of the Napa, Davis, Dixon, and Vacaville area. Fast forward to today and we have exceeded our goals in nearly every facet of the company — we are happy to provide a positive work environment and stability to our growing team of talented installers and electrification support staff!
With over 125 years of combined experience in the industry, the team at Electrify My Home is dedicated to helping homeowners reduce their carbon footprint while securing reliable home comfort, health, and safety that is compliant with the energy codes of California’s future. Big or small, we are here to help you with all your electrification needs.
Install Small, and #ElectrifyEfficiently
Your electrification path may be more than just replacing the heating and cooling system — it can also affect the kitchen, the laundry room, and the bathroom, too! But not every homeowner wants to go all in all at once when it comes to the total expense of replacing their furnace, air conditioner, water heater, and/or clothes dryer. What makes Electrify My Home different is our ability to help you electrify one step at a time, with a comprehensive electrification plan.
Electrification is much more than just swapping out a furnace or AC for a heat pump. Heat pumps come in many sizes and configurations, and finding the right equipment is the most important step. Our goal is to understand and improve the efficiency of your home first so that we can “install small” second. For example, poor insulation throughout your home could mean you’ve been relying heavily on your heating and cooling equipment to compensate. By upgrading your insulation, we can install a smaller all electric heat pump system that will reduce installation cost and monthly energy use.
Good Electrification
Heat pumps are different than gas furnaces and require special consideration and training that traditional HVAC companies do not typically observe.
Because heating and cooling account for nearly half of the energy use in a California home, heat pumps are often where homeowners start their electrification process. Trusting a gas furnace provider to install a perfect heat pump would be like taking your Tesla to a diesel mechanic.
“Good electrification” reduces energy loss and other inefficiencies in your home, and utilizes correctly sized, efficient, all-electric equipment that is installed the right way. Beginning with upgrading your insulation, we can keep more of the conditioned air from your heating and cooling equipment from escaping your living space through the attic and roof, as well as the walls of your home. Air sealing your home will close up all the tiny holes and cracks that allow air to freely flow in and out, bringing with it unwanted temperatures and outdoor pollutants, allergens, and chemicals. This lays the groundwork for good electrification.
