About TECH Clean California
TECH Clean California is a statewide program designed to accelerate the adoption of clean space and water heating technology across California homes. This $120 million initiative provides market incentives and workforce education and training to make it easier and more cost-competitive for distributors and contractors to stock, sell, and install low-emissions heat pump technology for residential replacement projects and helps prepare the market for the future of widespread heat pump adoption.
TECH Clean California will support existing programs through matched incentive funding available to contractors and installers, and will also extend incentives statewide, with an emphasis on access for low-income and disadvantaged communities, to help meet California’s goal of being carbon-neutral by 2045.
TECH Clean California will be a central hub for information on:
- Residential heat pump technologies
- Consumer education
- Supply chain engagement
- Workforce education, training, and development
Empowering Your Workforce
TECH Clean California gives you the ability to develop your workforce through education and training programs that will provide three levels of training highlighting the benefits of electrification, design and specification, and product training. In addition, the initiative will:
- Enable your teams with guided presentations on how to promote electrification.
- Help contractors in low-income communities obtain project licenses, expand their businesses and provide product training.
- Show employees correct pre-installation procedures and post-installation maintenance.
- Provide free Heat Pump Water Heaters (HPWHs) to contractors to create a first-hand experience with heat pump technology.
