Heat Pump Rebates and Home Electrification Financing

Electrifying your home can be one of the best ways to improve comfort, reduce indoor combustion, add efficient cooling, and prepare your home for a cleaner energy future. But every home, and every rebate program, is different.

Electrify My Home helps homeowners navigate available rebates and financing for heat pump HVAC systems, heat pump water heaters, electrical panel upgrades, insulation, ductwork, induction cooking, and full home electrification projects across Northern California.

Rebate programs change frequently, and funding is often available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather than relying on outdated rebate amounts, we help you identify which programs may apply to your address, utility provider, equipment type, income status, and project scope.

Finding a rebate is only the first step. Many programs have detailed requirements, including eligible equipment lists, contractor requirements, permit timing, income qualifications, proof of gas equipment removal, pre-approval steps, or final inspection documentation.

Our team designs and installs heat pumps the right way, and we help homeowners avoid common rebate mistakes, such as choosing ineligible equipment, missing application deadlines, starting work before a reservation is approved, or overlooking stackable incentives.

  • Identify rebate programs that may apply to your home
  • Plan heat pump HVAC, heat pump water heater, and panel upgrade projects around program requirements
  • Understand whether your utility, city, or community choice energy provider offers incentives
  • Coordinate documentation needed for eligible projects
  • Compare financing options when rebates do not cover the full project cost
  • Stage home electrification upgrades over time so your home is ready for future improvements

The programs below are some of the active local, utility, and regional rebate pathways that may apply in Electrify My Home’s service area. Eligibility depends on your home address, utility provider, existing equipment, project scope, and available program funding.

For homes served by Alameda Municipal Power, AMP offers rebates and resources for electrification upgrades, including heat pump space heating, heat pump water heaters, electrical panel upgrades, smart thermostats, induction cooking, EV charging, and other electric technologies.

AMP programs may require an active residential AMP account, eligible equipment, final permits, and documentation showing the project meets program rules. Some rebates are specifically tied to switching from natural gas to efficient electric equipment.

  • Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)
  • TECH Clean California (TECH)
  • Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN)
  • Sonoma Clean Power (SCP)
  • Marin Clean Energy (MCE)
  • East Bay Community Energy (EBCE)

Depending on your location and utility provider, rebates may be available for:

  • Heat pump HVAC systems
  • Ducted heat pumps
  • Ductless mini-split heat pumps
  • Heat pump water heaters
  • Electrical panel upgrades
  • Electrical circuits and wiring needed for electrification
  • Induction ranges and cooktops

Not every program covers every measure, and many programs have different requirements for single-family homes, multifamily properties, income-qualified households, and utility customers.

Many homeowners assume rebates are handled after the project is complete. Sometimes that is true, but not always.

Some programs require pre-approval, a rebate reservation, specific equipment ratings, participating contractors, AHRI documentation, photos of existing gas equipment, proof that a gas line was capped, final permit records, or applications submitted within a specific time window.

Before you replace a furnace, air conditioner, water heater, or electrical panel, contact Electrify My Home. We can help you understand what to check before work begins.

Ask Us About Rebates

Rebates can reduce the cost of electrification, but they rarely cover the entire project. Electrify My Home offers financing options to help homeowners move forward with high-quality heat pump and electrification upgrades without paying the full cost upfront.

Financing can be especially helpful for larger projects such as:

  • Replacing a gas furnace and air conditioner with a heat pump
  • Installing a heat pump water heater
  • Upgrading an electrical panel
  • Combining insulation, ductwork, and HVAC improvements
  • Staging a full home electrification project over time

We can help you identify likely rebate programs based on your address, utility provider, equipment, and project scope. Final eligibility is always determined by the rebate administrator, and funding can change without notice.

Why don’t you list rebate dollar amounts?

Rebate amounts, funding levels, income qualifications, and program rules change frequently. We avoid posting fixed dollar amounts on this page so homeowners do not make decisions based on outdated information. Contact us and we can help check current programs for your project.

Do I need to apply for rebates before installation?

Sometimes. Some programs allow post-installation applications, while others require a reservation or approval before work begins. Always check before signing a contract or ordering equipment.

Can rebates be stacked?

Sometimes. Certain utility, city, regional, and distributor incentives may be combined, but many programs include rules that limit total incentive value or prevent duplication. We can help you review potential stacking opportunities.

Do heat pump rebates require removing gas equipment?

Many electrification rebates are designed for replacing gas furnaces, gas water heaters, or other fossil-fuel appliances. Some programs require proof of gas equipment removal, gas line capping, or no gas backup. Requirements vary by program.

Are there rebates for electrical panel upgrades?

Some local programs offer panel upgrade rebates when the panel work is connected to electrification measures such as heat pump HVAC or heat pump water heating. Eligibility depends on your city, utility, and project scope.

What if my home is not eligible for rebates?

Even when rebates are limited, financing may help make a project more manageable. A properly designed heat pump system can also improve comfort, add efficient cooling, and prepare your home for future electric upgrades.
